I found a book I had been hunting for this morning. I honestly don’t know why I couldn’t find it as it was right where I had left it under my bed. I’d kinda give up hope thinking I left it at my parents when I was trying to get all my stuff to my new and rather humble abode.
Why mention this book, you ask? Because I feel compelled to re-read it. Crazy Love by Francis Chan is a good read. Like I said, I’ve read it before, and this summer (while Brandon and I have been touring the state), my Sunday School has been reading it as well. It’s a great read, but I said that already.
But before I read this book, I want to let you know that I’m not doing this for the theology or the doctrine Chan presents, but to basically see how I can better love others as Jesus did. After all He did have a kind of crazy love. I remember my New Testament professor warning us that Christian nonfiction was potentially the most dangerous place in a book store. That is where you could find books on any and all theology, philosophy, doctrine, etc that remotely had anything to do with the Bible. If you aren’t cautious, you could find yourself being indoctrinated by an ignorant Southern Baptist preacher who hasn’t learned the meaning of “turn the other cheek.” I don’t want to be that kind of writer. Rather, I want to be one that challenges whoever reads this to actually think about what I write and even challenge me to better articulate my thoughts, ideas, philosophies….
Anyways, hopefully, the next blog will be my response to Crazy Love. Ask me questions. I don’t want to be accused of being preachy, but I do want to be thought provoking.
